El LVM utilizar\u00e1 nuevos telescopios y espectr\u00f3grafos recientemente construidos, que cubrir\u00e1n un rango de longitudes de onda entre 3600 y 10000 \u00c5, con una resoluci\u00f3n espectral de aproximadamente R~4000 (basada en el dise\u00f1o del espectr\u00f3grafo DESI). Este nuevo instrumento recuperar\u00e1 aproximadamente 20 millones de espectros continuos a lo largo de 2.500 grados cuadrados del cielo, incluyendo el plano medio de la V\u00eda L\u00e1ctea, Ori\u00f3n y las Nubes de Magallanes, observados desde el Observatorio de Las Campanas, Chile, como parte de SDSS-V.
