Su trabajo abarca tem\u00e1ticas como la evoluci\u00f3n social, la especiaci\u00f3n y extinci\u00f3n de hom\u00ednidos, la ecolog\u00eda de sociedades cazadoras-recolectoras, los or\u00edgenes de los humanos modernos y la aplicaci\u00f3n de modelos evolutivos a la evoluci\u00f3n humana. Ha trabajado con m\u00e9todos tanto paleobiol\u00f3gicos como biol\u00f3gicos contempor\u00e1neos. Ha contribuido de manera significativa al desarrollo del campo del origen africano de los humanos modernos, integrando datos de f\u00f3siles, gen\u00e9tica y arqueolog\u00eda.
