Phylogal

phylogal

The Phylogal Group is an initiative by astronomers that emerges as a continuation of the Millennium Nucleus ERIS (Evolution Reconstructed of the Interstellar Medium), with the purpose of deepening research in galactic phylogenetics. This innovative approach applies principles of evolutionary biology to the study of galaxy formation and evolution, allowing their history to be reconstructed through phylogenetic tools.

Mission

At Phylogal, our mission is to transform the study of galactic evolution through the use of phylogenetic trees, bringing together astronomy, biology, data science, and statistics. We aim to understand the origin and evolution of galaxies, promoting interdisciplinary research and training new generations of scientists.

Objectives

1

Exploring galactic evolution: Investigating the processes that have shaped the structure and composition of galaxies over time.

2

Develop interdisciplinary tools: Integrate methodologies from biology, mathematics, and astronomy to analyze astrophysical data from an evolutionary perspective.

3

Promote international collaboration: Establish networks with scientists from various disciplines and countries to enrich research in galactic phylogenetics.

4

Disseminate scientific knowledge: Share advances and discoveries with the academic community and the general public, promoting the understanding of cosmic evolution.
